Born from a love of the world.

Since 2016, Verdant Atlas has been designing journeys for travelers who believe the world has more to teach than to be consumed.

Our Story

I founded Verdant Atlas after a life-changing year traveling through Southeast Asia in 2015. I'd spent months chasing the typical tourist trail—the photo-ready temples, the crowded viewpoints, the experiences designed for someone else's Instagram feed. And I was miserable.

Everything changed when I slowed down. I spent three weeks in a small village in Laos, helping a local guide's family with their rice harvest. I learned to make palm sugar. I attended a village celebration where I was the only foreigner, and yet felt more welcomed than anywhere else on my journey. That's when I understood: travel is not about collecting places. It's about listening to them.

When I returned home, I couldn't unsee what I'd experienced. The conventional travel industry felt hollow—it extracted value, left carbon footprints, created ephemeral moments rather than meaningful exchanges. I knew I had to create something different.

Verdant Atlas began as a vision: a travel company that would design journeys the way I wanted to travel. Slow. Intentional. Rooted in partnership with local communities. Honest about the impact we leave behind.

Today, we're proud to have crafted journeys for over 2,000 travelers—each one a story of discovery, of listening, of return. The world is vast and magnificent. Our role is to help you understand it with open eyes and a generous heart.

Our Principles

Slow Travel Over Rushed Routes

Real understanding requires time. We never pack more than one or two destinations per journey. We linger in villages, sit with locals, allow for spontaneous discoveries. Slow travel isn't about laziness—it's about depth.

Local Partnerships First

We don't parachute into destinations. Our guides are community members. We work with local businesses, artisans, and families year-round, building relationships that create meaningful income and authentic experiences.

Carbon Consciousness Matters

We offset every flight, favor overland travel, and prioritize destinations that can handle sustainable tourism. We publish our carbon footprint annually and invest in verified environmental projects.

Travelers as Listeners

Travel is an act of listening. We believe the best experiences emerge from genuine curiosity, humility, and openness to being changed by what we encounter. We select travelers who share this philosophy.
